P&I Entry Surveys
P&I Entry Surveys
Membership of Protection & Indemnity Clubs can bring great benefits to ship owners and ship operators. However, some ships present a higher level of risk than others, thereby posing a subsequent financial risk to the P&I Club, their members and, the free reserves which the clubs strive to maintain in the interest of financial security.
Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants can assist Protection & Indemnity Clubs in understanding the level of risk presented by each ship presented for membership of the clubs. Pre-entry surveys provide a report and analysis of the condition of ships applying to the P&I clubs for membership thus aiding the clubs in identifying what could be termed as substandard shipping or high risk ships. P&I Clubs can rely on our pre-entry surveys to report accurately on the condition of ships and their compliance with the regulations applicable in each case. Such surveys are designed to provide an understanding of the level of risk presented not only by the ship but also by the ship staff and the management companies involved.
Similar to the pre-entry survey Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants can provide condition surveys with the same scope and purpose of pre-entry surveys at any time. It remains a fact that accidents continue to occur in the marine and offshore industries despite the best efforts of all involved in trying to reduce or prevent this. The majority of claims made against the P&I Clubs are genuine but there are also those which are not. When an accident occurs Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants can attend the ship concerned or the ships and property of third parties, in order to investigate the sequence of event leading to the reported accident and subsequent claim against the P&I Club. These surveys will also provide a detailed report on the extent of damage incurred and the need for repairs.
