Pre Purchase Surveys

Pre Purchase Surveys

Pre Purchase Surveys

Pre purchase surveys are an essential aspect of the purchase of ships and boats, particularly in the second hand market. Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants can provide pre-purchase surveys of all vessels from small private boats to the very largest sea going ships including LPG Carriers, VLCC and Bulk Carriers etc. Pre-purchase surveys performed by Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants include a full survey of all accessible areas of the subject ship and, very importantly, specific areas of known recurring problems on various ship types and designs.

By performing a pre-purchase survey of ships, the buyer can reduce the risks of unexpected additional repair costs, unexpected operational down time and damage to their reputation which can occur when a ship is unexpectedly removed from service – particularity following a high profile or publicised purchase.

There are very few, if any, ships in operation in the world which are problem or defect free. Larsens Marine Surveyors & Consultants can identify such defects prior to the purchase agreement being completed and this information can be used in the purchase decision or price negotiation.

Surveys for Insurance Purposes

Larsens Marine Surveyors and Consultants provide a comprehensive service.

When surveying a Yacht or Motor Vessel for insurance purposes Larsens Marine Surveyor & Consultants (LMSC) will provide you with a comprehensive survey that will cover the entire vessel including engines, rigging, hull, deck and fittings, we recommend that these surveys are carried out in a dry condition (out of the water) in order to allow us to survey the entirety of the hull, propeller and steering gear. It is recommended that at the time of the survey arrangements are made for the engine to be functionally tested.
